Prior ExperienceMultiple years of fursuiting across multiple fursuits.

Wear Time13 hours

Informed Maker of IssuesMultiple issues with the suit;
Maker forgot correct eye colour which was on ref sheet (with a specific section for eye colour), to only rush it at the end after being informed.
Multiple spots on suit have already came unstitched, of which the maker said to ship it back overseas or sew it myself.
feet paws have worn through in just 13 hours of wear. Maker classed me commissioning a new pair of feet as this issue being "resolved"
the headlining has torn in multiple places inside the head, of which i was told to either take the lining out or sew it myself (Maker offered a $100 refund for this issue alone and nothing for anything else)
The head does not fit my glasses which was a specific request, and is also extremely tight, even after providing specific requested measurements, maker did not acknowledge this.

Overall

Initial ContactInitial contact with the maker was very easy, I contacted them over twitter once they were open, and they contacted me back on their next open slot, I stated what I wanted from my suit, listed what I required, and they then came back with a quote, listing what I would get for my money.

I’d provided them with all the measurements needed, and asked them specifically what DTD guide they would like me to follow.

Maker CommunicationThe contact time from the maker could vary anywhere from 1-2 days to 3 months.

Many times it would feel like I was completely ignored and ghosted whilst being left on read after asking a question, whilst I understand this is a business when you’re told “I’ll have an update for you by X” and then days roll by. It’s natural to get anxious.

When commissioning them in December I was told a 3-4 month turnaround time with a “Deposit upfront, and the rest upon completion” something I should've noticed for myself, was that the maker did not have a TOS.

After paying the maker in Dec 13th 2023, I was told that they would order the furs “today or tomorrow” with all the furs currently being in stock. And that they would keep me updated. I had no updates on furs until I asked on the 29th of Feb 2024 (the same day I asked for the final invoice). To which i got a response of “They have some furs on hand already, but they still need to order some more but have limited space so they cant” – the rest of the Furs weren’t ordered until late september. This level of communication as a maker or otherwise is unacceptable on any level. It shows a complete disregard for someone who has just spent a lot of their hard earned money and put a lot of trust in you.

I would occasionally receive updates on their personal situation in terms of “my assistant has quit” which would slow down production. In September the maker said that they were dealing with a client that had missed payments for multiple months and as such had to build multiple premade’s to cover bills (Likely pushing my suit further and further back.)

I had paid 70% upfront in Dec 2023, and the rest in March 1st 2024 – Upon Completion of the fursuit in October 2024 (10 months), the maker asked me to pay the remaining amount again, This leads me to believe that they had treated me as an unpaid client the entire time and pushed me behind other suits.

Delivery to MFF was originally supposed to happen, but a 3rd party could not attend. After this, the maker did not respond for multiple days at all (MFF was an arranged hard deadline) I suggested shipping the suit multiple times, whilst being left on read with no response, no update, no indication of anything moving, just silence. At the time my partner reached out to them on twitter to ask them to politely to respond, Of which the maker then lashed out at me, suggesting it had been one day from last communications (when it had been 4 days in total) as well as suggesting i need to work around their timeframes (of which i was doing, as every message sent from my end, was scheduled for either 10AM or 6PM Canadian time)
If you have time to read a message knowing a client has spent their money with you, you should also have time to formulate a response, be it a small update.

After this, the suit was then shipped – I asked for the suit to be declared at full value for customs, but upon arrival at customs the suit was not declared at the full value.

After then experiencing issues with my suit both upon arrival and after wearing for a few hours, as previously said i was told “these things happen” which just shouldn’t be the case.

Project Completion TimeI was told a 3-4 month completion time, the suit took 10 months.

Overall Project QualityOverall I’m unsatisfied with the quality of the fursuit, but happy with how the suit looks visually.

The suit absolutely should not have this many defects within the first few hours of wear, nor should they be brushed off as they have been, Multiple times completely seemingly lacking empathy or seeming manipulative.

I do not believe this fursuit is worth what I paid purely on the basis of how the suit has broken in multiple places under normal wear and tear. (walking and taking pictures at conventions), I feel like my commission was rushed and steps were clearly cut in its production.

As such im having to pay fursuit makers to repair part of the fursuit already (new lining), or commission entirely new parts.

The fact that the fursuit doesn’t accommodate glasses when specifically requested really upsets me, as I have difficulty wearing contact lenses. Which means i either have to have limited vision, or just have painful eyes.

The feet breaking within 13 hours has also left me dissatisfied as a commissioner more so with the lack of acknowledgement of this being an issue.

The suit does however look visually nice, and i do enjoy wearing them despite these issues, as they are my character.

Components

Head

Wear SatisfactionThe head generally feels very tight to wear, The lining is a non stretch material which has already torn within a few hours of wear in multiple places I’ve contacted my maker about this, and was told there’s nothing they could do and I would have to “Stitch the seams shut” or “remove the lining entirely” they offered me a $100 refund for this issue, it is rather painful to put on with the lining being a non stretch material, Once the head is on it’s not massively comfortable to wear but is tolerable, However it does not accommodate glasses. Of which was a requested requirement upon commissioning the fursuit.

The ventilation is generally fine with my mouth being placed around the opening of the heads mouth, however with the head being very tight and the material being non stretch, it does not absorb sweat / takes a while to air out.

The vision from the fursuit head is very good and this is something I really enjoy.

Visual SatisfactionVisually I love the suit, the style is what I wanted, and it matches the markings for everything excluding the eyes, the eye colour was forgotten about and added at the very end after notifying the maker as soon as the eyes were added into the head(No WIP’s of the eye colour was provided before installation).

The head is overall very symmetrical and with very even shaving, excluding a small clip of fur on the right side of the cheek, but that’s very small and hardly noticeable.

The expression is something I am happy with, again this is the makers style and a reason I chose them.

Excluding the eyes, it does match the concept art.

One-Piece Body

Wear SatisfactionThe fit of the bodysuit is very good, and very comfortable, it allows for good movement as well.

The quality and durability leaves a lot to be desired, originally the suit arrived with a hole in the armpit seam ( which is included in the images), of which I notified the maker and was told to sew up the seam and that “these things happen”. After around 12 hours of wear, every single spot on the fursuit body has come unsewn (again included in the images). I notified the maker about this, and was told to either ship the fursuit back overseas (pay shipping & re-import fee’s) or stitch them myself and was told again that sadly “these things happen”. I really don't believe that in 12 hours of wear, every single spot on a fursuit should come unsewn under normal wear, Nor should a maker brush this off and say that “these things happen”. This leaves the commissioner feeling extremely belittled and disheartened.

The interior is not lined, and is just a normal unlined fursuit interior, there are construction markings from what appear to be a different suit on the back portion of the inside of my fursuits body, thankfully these have not bled through.

Visual SatisfactionThe bodysuit looks great, it’s symmetrical, and has even shaving, The colouration is perfect and the markings match my reference image perfectly, The fur between the legs, gets a little matted when walking, but that’s mostly due to the fur being long fur.

Hands

Wear SatisfactionThe hands are completely fine, originally they were very tight, but after a while they’ve gotten a little looser, They seem well built and durable, they are lined with again a non stretch material which seems to not absorb sweat well.

Visual SatisfactionVisually these are brilliant, they match my character perfectly, the shaving is even, i am very happy the fursuit hands in general.

Tail

Wear SatisfactionI like the tail, It’s very light, comfortable to wear, sits very well to the body suit and is easy to put on, It seems well made.

Visual SatisfactionI’m happy with how the tail looks, It’s a tiny bit long for my character, and i wasn’t shown any WIPS of the tail, just a fully completed tail, However, in general it’s a good tail. It’s Symmetrical, and evenly shaved and matches the reference art.

Feet

Wear SatisfactionThe feet originally fit completely fine and were comfortable to wear, they were a little tight to put on at first but stretched after a few times putting them on.

The feet are made of single layer foam and are classified as “outdoor” feet paws, After wearing them at only two conventions, the right foot paw has worn through at the heel. To the point where it will seep in any moisture from the floor (they have not been worn in rain, but have been worn on slightly damp pavements). I’ve commissioned new feet paws as this isn’t something i can repair myself, after notifying my maker about this, they said “this issue is resolved” and that “they’ve never had this issue before”.

This is a complete lack of any acknowledgement of an issue, nor of any form of empathy for a commissioners suit breaking in less than 13 hours of wear.

Visual SatisfactionI really liked these feet paws visually They were well shaved, the fur matched the Reference art well, it’s a shame that I’ve had to commission new ones, but with them breaking so soon and other issues with the fursuit, i was not confident in getting replacements made by the maker.

RatingFursuitReview rates by asking the question:
Would you recommend this maker?

NO This review has been marked with a negative rating.
This means the reviewer would NOT recommend The Burrito Queen unless they significantly change their practices.

Final CommentsI Understand this has been a negative review. I will leave it on a positive note – I do like how the fursuit looks, the style is wonderful, and it does bring to life my character, I just hope that the maker takes this review to reflect upon their practices and improve, Whilst I would not recommend this maker from my own personal experiences from how I was treated and the quality of the suit i received, If they take this onboard and improve then that would fix a lot of the problems i’d experienced.

Aftercare of a client is key, if your suit breaks within a few hours of wear, then the suit was not built correctly. Whilst small mishaps happen, just brushing them off is inexcusable.

  1. To add further to this;

I unpacked my fur suit after storage for the first time since posting this, and discovered the spots on the hand paws had come unsewn, this is something I hadn’t noticed when doing my initial review, but after finding them thought I should add as a comment, The suit has had no further time worn since the review.
