Initially contacted her on Facebook, it was simple enough.
Decent at first, but regularly had external things that prevented professional updates. There were multiple discussed details in the project that ended up disregarded entirely.
It was a bit longer than expected, as we had discussed having it in time for an event I was attending at Halloween, but I ended up recieving it in early November, so not too bad of a delay overall.
My overall satisfaction with this project is nonexistent. Talking with the maker seemed simple, but over the course of making, agreements were not honored, my preferences were not respected, and the final result given to me and the service after were heartbreaking. No amount of adjustments have been able to make this head comfortable, and I have only managed to put up with it twice after extensive modification. The feet were unusable to the point where I have given them away for scrap fabric. I hope to be able to get the head refurbished eventually, as the maker blocked me when I was unsatisfied with the product so I was not given the agreed upon replacement items, or any amount of refund for unusable parts.
Uncomfortable. While we agreed on using a 3D printed base, the end result was not acceptable. She had opted for an “adjustable” Velcro plush strap at the back of the head, but the whole thing was oversized to the point where that was absolutley not enough to keep the head in place – far too loose. The eyes are too high, and thus I either have very low ventilation or have to look through the open mouth, or otherwise tilt the head down to see. The eyelids provided did not stick well. Only the inside of the 3D print was padded and poorly lined, and that was another source of discomfort. There was initially a large hole at the base of one ear due to an unfinished seam. Due to shipping the head in only a trash bag in a cardboard box, one of the horns was broken beneath the fabric, which was the incorrect type.
From a distance, not terrible, but even in the full body images I attached, I had already done things like add the nostrils that she forgot, despite them being discussed in the process as well as having to paint some of the fur to have more acceptable markings, as the shapes were very incorrect. I found the visual execution inaccurate, with asymmetrical markings that I had already requested been changed during the initial build process. The shaving was inconsistent, and the fur was not really possible to brush, particularly where the fur met the fleece of the nose, the edge was very pronounced and unsightly. The hair piece was floppy and attached with a weak magnet.
Before and after alterations
Unlined, foam hood hands. They are a bit big, I have to hold the hooves to keep them on, as there is no finished end to the gloves.
They look fine.
This tail has a flat piece of cardboard at the end beneath the loops that made wearing it look unnatural because it was so flat. The tail is stiff, and holds its shape well during wear. There was initially a large hole in the unfinished seam on the tail.
The fur “tuft” on the end of the tail was a flat piece of fabric sewn into the seam, it hung limply and looked bad.
The feet were unusable right out the box, and there was nothing I could do to fix them. They were loose, with a foam bottom and only softly stuffed, meaning that I slipped while attempting to wear them. They also lacked an unfinished edge, so they fit more like oversized boots, and were not stable enough to wear out, despite being sold as outdoor feet.
they were supposed to be built on a specific pattern, but looked nothing like they were intended to, with poor execution, very visible seams, and bulky hooves.
