Overall

Initial ContactInitially, the maker responded to me VERY fast through Instagram DM's and gave me a quote quickly after I sent my reference sheet. I stated I wanted a payment plan and she said I had until May to pay off the suit; I started by sending 2k in September. She seemed very communicative at first but this did not continue after the initial discussion.

Maker CommunicationAfter I paid, I barely heard anything from my maker, in stark contrast to the initial strong communication we had. She reached out to me a month after my first payment asking me to pay in full since she had financial struggles. She said if this was done, the suit would be finished within weeks! I agreed to speed up my payments, and paid in full by December. However I barely heard from her all winter. She first said it would be done "before the new year" but it came and went without any explanation.

Every time I wanted an update I really just had to beg. I only got like 5 WIP photos total. Often in response to my questions, the maker would just send "Hi" and then disappear. Every time I asked when the suit would be done, she would say "next week" or some really close time getting my hopes up. This went on from December all the way until June when I was basically asking daily for updates. It was infuriating. Every response was no longer than a sentence and WIP photos were sent with no context.

Project Completion TimeI paid my first installment in September, in full by December, and it was completed in June. This was extremely reasonable, but what was infuriating was how I was told my suit would be done by the New Year and I still had to wait so long. June was never spoken as an estimated end date. Every time I asked for updates I either got nothing or "next week" which was a lie until the suit was actually finished.

Overall Project QualityI'm happy with the overall quality and visuals of my suit despite the flaws and things I asked for which weren't executed properly. For 4k, I think I got the quality I expected, and it lines up with the quality of other suits in Nuomi's portfolio. I am worried about seams popping around the tail because of the weight of it, as well as the arms since they are already so tight.

Components

Head

Wear SatisfactionAs expected, ventilation of the suit is not very good since it is kemono style. The eyes do not provide ventilation since the inside of it is covered in plastic, which makes vision a bit foggy. I have a big blind spot in the middle of the head as well which can be a bit challenging, but I expected these things and do not hold them against the maker. I requested the 3D base used for the suit.

What I did not expect was the inside of the suit head to have like a bicycle helmet setup. It can be a bit tricky to get the head strap behind my head, tighten it to my adjustment, and tuck it into the head before pulling up the zipper. The strap easily gets caught in the zipper so I have to be careful.

The neck is lined and there is fabric around the eyes, mouth, and forehead part of the plastic helmet to make it more comfortable.

Visual SatisfactionStyle-wise, the head is what I expected. I enjoy the follow-me kemono eyes. However, the shaving on the back of the ears is very choppy and looks rushed, so I had to fix it myself. I did not get any WIP or completed photos for the back of the head. I did not get any patterning WIPS of the head. The maker forgot two small face markings on my reference sheet.

The industrial piercings were the most disappointing part of the fursuit head for me. The 3D printed bars were crudely hot-glued onto the ears and began to warp in shape to be rounded so I ended up removing them. The piercing balls are so small they are literally hidden underneath the fur and impossible to see in photos.

What was also odd about the eyes is the maker just sent me a bunch of example eye designs to choose from, none of which matched the eyes in my reference whatsoever. I had to ask her to recolor a design she sent which most closely matched my reference sheet. The maker appears to reuse a lot of printed eye designs throughout her suit work. I wish I had the option to get a more customized design matching my vision.

One-Piece Body

Wear SatisfactionThough I sent a duck tape dummy to the maker which covered the full length of my arms appropriately, the sleeves on my suit are very tight and uncomfortable for me to wear. They also fall a bit short, so the lining of my fursuit paw cuffs are often visible in photos, shown in photo below.

The tail is stuffed extremely tight, which makes it noticeably heavy and uncomfortable, it feels like it weighs me down.

The legs and torso area are the right size on me and allow for good movement.

Visual SatisfactionThe markings are very symmetrical which is pleasing to me. Overall, the suit matches the reference sheet and is what I expected visually.

Unfortunately, the maker added a purple marking to the back of the suit which is just supposed to be a placeholder of where the tail connect to the bodysuit on the reference sheet. I did not get any patterning WIP photos for the back of the fursuit, so I had no way of correcting this mistake before it was sewn in. I tried to tell the maker to sew the tail over it to cover the marking, and they agreed, but maybe did not understand due to language barrier. The marking is still visible on the finished bodysuit. You can see it in the picture below.

Hands

Wear SatisfactionThe paws are extremely uncomfortable to wear because they are fully lined with plush minky fabric. My hands sweat immediately wearing these and often slide off a bit. The maker did not send me any WIPs of the paws or ask if I wanted lining. They just barely fit my hands, and my hands are already quite small! Judging by the rest of the fursuit maker's portfolio, she seems to reuse the same 2 paw templates for everyone suits.

Visual SatisfactionThe pawpads themselves are cute and puffy, but the shaving at the end of the fingers is choppy. The fur is not shaved around the center pawpad.

Tail

Wear SatisfactionThe tail is extremely uncomfortable and was the most disappointing part of this suit for me. I asked the maker very clearly to make it so it could detatch from the bodysuit, and I sent example photos and tutorials of this in hopes of helping with the language barrier. At first she said she would try to do it. I didn't hear anything about the tail situation while the bodysuit was being made so I asked again, and Nuomi confirmed she would make it detachable.

Well… the tail was sewn right onto the bodysuit with no way to remove it. I didn't know she was going to do this until it arrived. the tail is also stuffed to the limits and is SO heavy I can feel it dragging behind me whenever I walk. It also has a curve which often gets stuck between my legs and I have to be careful not to trip over it. I am so disappointed with it.

Visual SatisfactionThe tail markings are accurate, however the length is not. I asked Nuomi NOT to make it a floor-dragger and sent example photos of the length I wanted. Nuomi sent me a pattern photo of the tail which I approved, but there was no ruler or way to tell size from the photo so I approved it not realizing it was a floor-dragger. The size is not what I asked for.

Feet

Wear SatisfactionThe inside of the feetpaws is a foam slipper hot glued to the base of the foot. While I personally find this comfortable and easy to control the feetpaw movement in, I did not provide my feet size at any point in the process.. the maker appears to be reusing the same slippers for every commissioner which is not adequate for everyone's foot size. I'm a women's US 9 and they fit comfortably though.

Visual SatisfactionThe feetpaws are visually cute. The bodysuit leg slips over it and they add a bit of a digi shape to the back of the fursuit leg. I am happy with it. The foam pawpads on the bottom are outdoors-style and match the purple color of her handpaws.

NO This review has been marked with a negative rating.
This means the reviewer would NOT recommend NuoMi FurryStudio unless they significantly change their practices.

Final CommentsI do not blame the language barrier for any of the communication mistakes. Like I said, getting my quote went really well and the maker sent me fur examples and bodysuit styles and we discussed what I wanted with no problem. The ghosting, lack of updates and constant change of completion time was the problem; not the maker's language skills/translator.

  1. My friend has been waiting for years for their partial 😭. They tell me all the times they send a message and just get a “hey” back and nothing else too. I didn’t believe it until they showed me the convos. So many Heys back to back with nothing else! I want them to make a review so badly when they eventually get their suit. I’m certain they’re being pushed aside for the bigger projects.

  2. That sounds really frustrating for your friend, especially after waiting so long and not getting clear communication. Good communication is just as important as quality in commissions. Hopefully they get updates soon and a positive outcome. For future reference, Fursuit Mania is often mentioned for more consistent updates and reliability. fursuitmania.com
