It was pretty easy, I sent them a message on Etsy and was able to get things started. They wanted to handle payment outside of etsy on paypal (they did make an invoice) which I now realize was pretty sketchy.
Communication was horrible. I had to message the seller through etsy, and they would constantly close their shop and would expect people to check the shop update for why they weren't responding to messages. I understand that the makers had a few life events come up which made things difficult, After checking in, in December, I had asked for a refund and was told no since they had already started on it. Mid-December they said that they will ship out the paws, and provided pictures of white paws with beans, and an orange lining. In January they said that they had issues with a 3rd party shipper who was just taking the money and not shipping the products, and that they will ship the paws on 1/20.
After a while messaging had switched from etsy to email since they had trouble logging into their etsy as someone else owned the account and they were in the hospital, and the shop was run by two people.
When checking in to see if the paws were shipped yet, I was told that they'd be shipped out "the following Friday" about 5 times, and then was told that another maker was handling this project on top of their personal projects. In May I pressed for an update and they said they needed to purchase more minky for my paws– which I had thought were already completed since they had shown me a picture of completed paws.
The paws I received were not the ones that had their picture taken in December, and were completely different.
Unsatisfied. They said the turn around would be 4 months, which is totally reasonable; I finally received the paws 6 months after the first ETA.
With the paws itself, they're pretty nice. However I had asked for white indoor paws with pink pads and claws, and what I received were outdoor paws with no claws. They also hadn't asked about shoe size when making them, and I consider myself really lucky that I have an average feet size and was able to fit in them.
I had also been shown WIP photos of White paws with pink pads and orange lining when I asked for photos. The paws I received were NOT those paws, they had pink lining and outdoor bottoms and I feel like I was bait and switched.
They are pretty comfortable to wear, my feet do slide around a little bit, and they're a little difficult to walk around in. The maker used EVA foam for the bottom, so walking around in the grass did poke holes into the foam– which I will probably have to glue a rubber sole onto myself. The top of the paws are a little awkward, they didn't apply any bias tape so the fur at the top sticks up due to being directly sewn into the liner.
They did not ask for size when making them, I fit in them just fine but I'm not sure how someone with larger feet may fit in them.
The paws with the pink lining are what I received, the paws with the orange lining are what they showed me as a WIP which I did NOT receive
The visual satisfaction is ok, I wish the toes were more defined, and I had asked for claws and did not receive them. I also wish the liner was a lighter colored material instead of pink since its pretty visible if something isn't sitting right.
Would you recommend this maker?
This means the reviewer would NOT recommend PaintedTanukiDesigns unless they significantly change their practices.
They also sent different paws than what they had shown in the WIP pic, and the quality was not the same.

The wait time sucks, but, honestly $300 for a set of digital feet paws is *cheap.* Most makers charge around $500 for feet paws. Did you specify indoor or outdoor paws? Because there’s nothing here that says you did and EVA foam is a common and acceptable material for paws. It retains less heat than upholstery foam and tends to be lighter if constructed with a hollow build method. The toes are defined and noticeable, Though, there are no claws, so I can see that as an issue. What I don’t get is that the black bias is clearly visible. Custom lining colors usually cost extra and most makers will use what’s on sale or what they have for lining since it won’t be seen–unless specified otherwise.
You said you’ve had planti feet before, maybe you’re not as familiar with digital feet construction? Either way, I can get saying No for the wait is reasonable, but you got a hell of a deal on a well made suit part for the quality you got.
The paws with the bias tape is not what they received! It was shown as a WIP, but they got the top photos, which don’t have bias tape at all! and they specifically said they wanted indoor with claws, so they got a item that was almost completely different from what they ordered
Holy cow, I also commissioned this maker last year and have yet to receive ANYTHING! I didn’t know anything about how fursuit buying worked then, so now I see all the problems this maker has. They made me pay through Venmo… *facepalm* and they aren’t even answering my emails… I wanna cry. My first adult scam, because I do see this as a scam, but I’m glad you were able to receive something, though it sure sucks that you didn’t get what you paid for. Here’s to hoping I get a partial refund or maybe something! -_-
What email did they give you for communication? I also commissioned them and they blocked me on discord. I’m trying to get ahold of them tho I’m pretty sure they just stole 700$ from me 🙁
What’s their discord?
Yea I didn’t get any of the things I commissioned I paid over 750 plus 50 in rush fees dollars and got nothing it seems to be a scam especially since it’s been almost 2 years with nothing received they took my money and ran!
