Initial contact was very easy. I discovered the maker on Furaffinity and saw that she was excepting quotes, so I filled one out. The captcha wasn’t working properly so I emailed Jing directly for instructions. She responded a couple of days later and allowed me to screenshot my quote form and ref and once I sent it a commission was set up pretty much immediately!
The whole process was through email. When figuring out the details for the commission the response time was pretty good, which a response usually given within the day. Once I was officially put into the queue, there wasn’t much communication as there wasn’t much to discuss then. Once work began on my suit I received frequent updates until it was completed. Communication was very clear and Jing was very polite and understanding, which settled my nerves of commissioning a suit for the first time. I felt very comfortable discussing what I wanted in the suit.
Completion of the suit took longer than the first estimated time as there were still projects ahead of mine by the time it came around. It was first estimated for an April 2021 completion and it was completed in October. Despite my excitement, it was definitely worth the wait and I have no complaints on the time it took to get to me!
I was able to view the Trello to see where I was in line so there was no confusion there. The suit was not shipped as we live very close to each other. I picked it up directly from the maker.
All things considered, I am very happy with my suit and I absolutely adore how Angel looks all together! The suit head turned out better than I imagined it would, and the suit was definitely worth the price! I always have so much fun wearing it, and as my first commissioned suit and fullsuit, it is everything I could have wanted in my first experience.
The suit is consistent with the maker’s style, and while I am her first primate suit, it pretty much looks as I would expect them to look in her style.
The head is made on a foam base and lined. When I first put it on it was pretty tight, but over time of wearing the head it got more comfortable. Still, the head is pretty snug, and my cheeks are kinda pressed up against the sides. It definitely won’t be falling off anytime soon. In my opinion it’s comfortable enough to wear for long periods of time as I ignore the tightness fairly quickly. Unfortunately there is not enough room to wear with an additional balaclava. Also my lip slightly touches the muzzle fan, though I’m sure that’s expected as the muzzle itself is on the shorter side.
The ventilation is satisfactory, I’ve had no issues with it. The head also comes with a fan in the muzzle for cooling down if I get too hot.
The vision is pretty good! Unlike my last two heads, I don’t have to turn my head to see out of one eye at a time. I can look straight forward perfectly fine, with is a huge plus for me lol There is a blind spot of course, but it is fairly small.
My only concern is that I did fill out a part on the quote form that asked if I needed extra room to wear my glasses and it seems as though that was forgotten. Nothing much else can fit inside besides my own head. It’s not a huge deal for me as I don’t require glasses to see well enough, but I found it noteworthy.
I’m overall okay with the fit of the head, however if I were to commission again in the future I’d probably add a few inches to my head circumference measurement lol
I absolutely love how Angel’s head turned out visually! The shape of the head is instantly identifiable as a primate, which was my main worry when commissioning such a rare fursona/fursuit species. The furs used are beautiful and vibrant, and the fleece work is expert quality! I especially love that the stitching in the ears matches the way I drew them in the reference. He looks very cute and I’ve been complimented on my suit many times already!
The face uses a super rare fleece color which is the closest we could find to the ref and I’m totally in love with it.
In terms of symmetry, it is pretty much perfect! One eye is very slightly positioned differently than the other, but you can’t tell at all unless you’re looking super close, so it’s no problem at all! The following eyes illusion works exactly as it should.
For the most part it matches the reference sheet that I provided and I am happy with the outcome. A couple differences is that the white marking on the back of the head went down a bit further than I expected, and the maker decided to make the entire face “hairless” including the cheeks, which is different as on my ref the fur goes up to around the muzzle. I was a tad iffy when I saw the WIP images when the furring began, but I trusted that Jing would make it look great, and I ended up actually very much liking how it looks, maybe even more so than if the fur covered more of the face!
When I was sent pictures of the completed suit, the eyebrows were missing, but of course that was easily solved as I just reminded her (which explains why they aren’t in the official portfolio images.)
The bodysuit fits very well and it’s nice and comfortable! So far no seams have popped and the suit feels very durable. I have full range of motion and I can squat, dance, and raise my arms above my head with no problems.
There are a few construction marks on the inside but they are very light and do not bleed. The inside is not lined and as a first-time fullsuiter, nothing seems out of the ordinary in terms of airflow.
The markings are perfect, symmetrical, and match the reference very accurately. The belly fur is shaved which I really like and is pretty even. The rest of the fur is fairly long but nice and soft and can be brushed easily.
The furs except for the white was picked out by me and I’m completely happy with the colors, especially the light red, which I love so much!
When I initially received the fursuit, it was a bit loose around the crotch area and the area would look bunched up in some photos, and there also appeared to be a small line on the lower belly fur that seemed to be shaved a bit closer than the rest. I informed Jing of the issue with the fitting of the body and she fixed it for me free of charge! And also the shave line appears to be gone now so I assume it was removed with the extra fabric, which I am also happy about. I am very happy with how it looks in photos now!
Fits like a glove, literally! My own hand measurements weren’t asked for during construction but for the most part they fit my hands pretty well. The wrists are a good length and my skin does not show while in fullsuit, even when I stretch out my arm.
As the handpaws are unpadded and made to the shape of a human hand, they fit like standard gloves and will definitely not slide off no matter how much movement you make. My hands have full range of motion and I can pick up anything. They are comfortable and slip right on, though I’m more careful taking them off as I don’t want to risk stretching the fleece on the fingers.
Over time I have seen a small hole form in between the fingers, but that should be easy to fix myself. They have been very durable otherwise. The inside of the handpaws are unlined, and the edges are cuffed which is a nice touch.
I am satisfied with them, and I really like that the fur on the back of the hand goes all the way up to the fingers. I personally wouldn’t have minded if there was a bit of padding in the hands to make them more proportionate with the suit, and the hands tend to look ‘hidden’ in the fur due to the small fingers, but I don’t mind that for the most part, as the dexterity is a fair trade-off for me lol
They match the character design very well.
The main tail is attached to the bodysuit so no preparation needed when suiting up. Very comfortable, you pretty much can’t tell it’s even there most of the time lol
I commissioned an extra tail for partial suiting and I’ve had no issues with it as well.
Pretty good visually, not much to say here. If I were to nitpick however I would have liked if the tail was a bit bigger and thicker to match my ref a bit better, but that’s not too much of a problem for me.
The first few times I struggled a bit to put them on but over time with repeated use they now slip on like a breeze, almost like a pair of fuzzy slippers! The material used on the inside is very soft and comfortable to wear. They stay on nicely while suiting and will not slide off while also not being too tight. The feet feel very structurally sound.
The feet are perfect visually, no complaints here! They match the reference very nicely.
They also come with handy tags on each cuff so you know which footpaw goes on the which foot, although I didn’t need them as my feetpaws have an inner toe which gives it away immediately lol. Still a nice touch though!
The head comes with a fan attached to the inside of the muzzle, and the battery pack is in a pocket on the back of the neck. So far it has worked as it should.
