Nova Fur's website had a google form I filled out, and after filling it out, they quickly contacted me and worked out a quote. Their website is kept up to date, and they keep their getfursu.it entry up to date as well. They made it really clear what I needed to send them, and it was easy to get done!
We communicated on telegram for the whole transaction. They were very communicative about the process as they worked on the suit, sending frequent pictures of the work in progress, asking questions and getting my opinion on things. They were pleasant, polite, and professional.
I got in near the back of a commission queue, and this was clearly communicated. I didn't request a specific date, but once my Duct Tape Dummy and the materials arrived, work was done in about a month and some change. Shipping went smoothly, going straight through customs. I wasn't able to get the tracking number to work, but they were happy to check for me, and the whole thing arrived safely.
I couldn't be happier with how my partial turned out. The whole thing is put together solidly and made with quality, comfortable materials. It fits right, the colors and materials are consistent through the whole thing, and it all goes together to make one hell of a complete package, at a price that felt more than fair. I can say without a doubt that Nova Fur exceeded all of my expectations, and I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a suit maker.
At first, the movable jaw made getting the head on and off a bit cumbersome, but this turned out to be more of a learning curve than a flaw- after putting it on a few times it was totally natural. The inside of the head is comfortably cushioned, and it fits me just right- not too tight, not too loose. I can breathe perfectly well in it, though it gets a bit stuffy- this is mitigated a lot by the movable jaw, ironically, which lets me control bits of additional ventilation intuitively. The blind spot in the center of the suit does have me turning my head a fair bit, but this is also mitigated a lot by the jaw- being able to take a quick peak around by just smiling is fantastic.
I couldn't be more satisfied with how the head looks. The fur is smooth and symmetrical, matching the character very well. The beak of the base we decided on is bigger than the original character's, but the end result looks nice. The jaw, multiple sets of eyebrows, and follow-me eyes all work together to give me tons of options for making varied, adorable expressions.
After talking a lot with Nova, we decided to sacrifice a fair amount of my dexterity wearing the wing sleeves to make them look better. Even despite that, the wings are really comfortable! The material on the inside is comfortable and easy to keep clean, and the elastic straps keep them from straining the seams even when I'm posing for photos and the like. Though they limit my ability to grab stuff, they slip on and off really easily, and I can still get my head on easily with them out. The fur and felt has all held together well through wearing it a lot, and I'm excited to wear them more.
Visually, the wings are absolutely fantastic. The fur is fluffy and even, transitioning into the soft, symmetrical felt feathers. Someone I was sitting next to even remarked that I felt like a blanket! They also match the character just right, getting the right colors on both the inside and outside of the wings. They even line up with the colors on the cowl of the head, which adds to the whole look.
The tail is nice! Just as durable as the rest of the suit, and it fits comfortably on a belt. Since it's wider than it is long, I end up sitting on it while wearing it, so I was expecting to need to flatten it out and reform it more, but it actually holds up really well, even after sitting down for a while.
It's perfect! The shape matches the character's tail dead-on, and is made of the same high-quality material the rest of the partial is made of, so it's soft and comfy. The shape of it means that it doesn't move as much as longer tails might, but that rigidity also works in its favor, as it wiggles well.
Would you recommend this maker?
This means the reviewer would recommend Nova Fur.
I’d just like to point out, the only felt on this is the head around the eyes and everything the commissioner is referring to is minky 🙂 this is just to clarify as felt and minky hold up differently and minky is stronger and will last much longer. And yes feels like a blanket haha. I’m so happy this customer loves thier suit. Avians are some of my favorites to make
