Overall

Initial ContactIt was very easy to get a quote via a Google Form, as well as emails confirming some smaller details with the maker. The second commission form was similarly easy once I'd gotten my initial questions from the quote form answered.

Maker CommunicationI was extremely satisfied with the maker's communication. Professional and courteous but not overly stuffy and mechanical. Everything was over email, all responses were received promptly, and the few issues that came up (one personal and one with materials being out of stock) were clearly communicated in advance. He also had a Trello board that was updated frequently.

Project Completion TimeI was definitely fine with the wait time for this project. I believe I was second or third in the maker's queue that year. I was hoping to have him before Anthrocon that year but it turned out that he came literally the day after I got home that year.

Overall Project QualityI was and still am very happy with this suit. It was a extremely reasonable price for the quality of work and level of professionalism from the maker, and I've had very few issues since. I've flown with him and done a couple of Anthrocon parades and meetups wearing him without any major issues or damage outside of the loose claws I mentioned.

My worst complaint is that I haven't had enough opportunities to wear him in the past couple years.

Components

Head

Wear SatisfactionThe head fits well and isn't too heavy or uncomfortable. There's a T-shaped headstrap inside for adjustment, and once I got it tightened appropriately my chin rests directly on the movable jaw plate and helps line up my eyes with the tear duct mesh. It can be a bit warm as expected but opening the jaw (especially blowing a fan inside) helps immensely. There isn't any lining and I've noticed moisture buildup inside the plastic parts (over the jaw most noticeably) but a quick wipe and disinfection after wearing him has made that a non-issue.

My vision wearing him is okay, although not having any prior experience with suits (my head didn't fit in the two I've ever tried wearing before) means I can't really compare all that well. There's some sort of nub sticking into my vision in one eye that I've been meaning to try and figure out the source (probably glue or plastic around the mesh), but I can see alright and it's more annoying than anything.

Visual SatisfactionI think he looks great. The head is super fluffy and the hand-painted follow-me eyes look great. The blending of the fur colors on the neck follows his reference very well as does the lengths of the fabric itself.

There's some small airbrushing issues here and there but nothing you'd notice without specifically looking for them from close up (or in very high-res images). The ears are also slightly asymmetric but, again, not a big deal at all.

Upper Body

Wear SatisfactionThe partial included two arm sleeves, which are pretty simple unlined fur tapered down towards the wrists with an elastic strap connecting them across the back. Wearing an undershirt makes the comfort issue of the rough fur backing a nonfactor, and the strap is the perfect length to keep them in place and doesn't restrict my motion at all. They're noticeably warmer than just wearing a shirt, obviously, but not more than I'd expect.

The only issue really is that they sometimes twist around at the wrists and make the color markings not line up with the hands, but it's an extremely minor issue that I don't think could really be fixed it all. Just have had to remind myself to twist them back around every so often.

Visual SatisfactionThey look great; colors and patterns are matched perfectly. Almost seamless when they line up with the hands.

Hands

Wear SatisfactionThe hands are somewhat comfortable but have some minor issues. I wanted big soft hands and these absolutely deliver on that; the pawpads are perfectly plush and the soft claws are exactly what I was looking for as I'm not a fan of claws being a harder material.

However, one thumb is noticeably short and makes it a little strange to wear–but not painful or uncomfortable. It's likely my fault as I supplied the maker with a traced outline of one of my hands that I likely could've done a better job with and done one for the left and right. Being unlined makes them a little uncomfortable to wear (admittedly the soft pads help with this), but I bought some thin gloves to help with sweat absorption and those have done the trick the few hours I've worn him since.

One claw has slightly detached but it shouldn't be too hard a fix whenever I remember to get around to it. Otherwise it's the only distinct point of wear on the hands and really on the whole partial.

Visual SatisfactionThe hands look perfect. I love the pad details and the overlapping fur colors and lengths are great. Couldn't have asked for better looking hands.

Tail

Wear SatisfactionThe tail feels good to wear and is the exact length I wanted (so I can hold it in front of me). It attaches via two beltloops and has a hard end that sometimes can be a little uncomfortable to sit down with but I've never really noticed while walking around. Nothing has gone wrong with it and I've been careful to keep it off the ground as much as I reasonably can.

Visual SatisfactionThe tail looks great besides some minor issues towards its end. The colors are great, the fur lengths are great, and the patterning is mostly good. I love how flexible it is and how I can hold it in front of me. However, the tail tip's floofy end part seems to twist around in a way that I can't fix, but it could be stuffing settling and bunching up in the wrong way.

Feet

Wear SatisfactionThe feet are based around a pair of Crocs that while not a shoe I'm used to wearing are pretty comfortable. I admittedly haven't worn the feet much (as they have indoor pads, I lack sandals, and they're too bulky for me to fly with) besides around my apartment and they are pretty comfy. Not too clown-shoe feeling despite being pretty long and bulky. There's a cinch-down strap at the ankles that does stay up pretty well with something like under armor but not so well against bare skin (very minor issue).

One claw has also come loose after very little wear, probably from getting shuffled around in a tote bin during a couple moves, but like the same issue on the hands shouldn't be too hard a fix if and when I remember to actually do it.

Visual SatisfactionThe feet look pretty good. The pad pattern and general look is great, but the claws seem to point in slightly different directions. It's a little disappointing but maybe to be expected with soft claws.
