Wear Satisfaction

The head fits very well, as the chin rests on the lower (movable) jaw it helps to wear the light weighted resin masks, there are also rubber strips holding the mask from the back in position. The inside is executed symmetrical with no uncomfortable pressure points, lined and padded where the mask rest on the suiter´s head.

The zipper is situated on the back of the head,it hides well in the fur but (nitpicking ahead) is a bit tricky to close as the tab of the slider is quite small.

For a resin mask ventilation is very good. You have two large tear-ducts mesh-areas that help and you can open your mouth for further air exchange. The used NFT fur feels also pretty permeable for air. Also as the hollow snout points slightly downwards you are not constantly breathing back into your face (that helps a lot).

The large tear-ducts mesh provides a very good vision in front and on the sides of you, in part still with stereoscopic (depth-) vision. You are only limited in the directly above- and below- you vision (you can´t see trough the mask´s mouth) – but for a resin mask it´s surprisingly good. Only minor downside, when taking pictures with flash very near to the mask´s face it can happen that you can spot the suiter´s eyes.

Visual Satisfaction

The head looks very natural. Both fur pattern as airbrushing are executed clean and symmetrical, no smears or crunchy fur.

Shaving of snout is also done clean on both sides and transition to longer fur appears natural. The fur is attached well and follows the contours of the mask, no seams are visible, with a minor exception: on the lower jaw the seam above a screw (?) wasn’t perfectly lined up, showing a bit the underlying black resin-mask (white furs unfortunately can be very tricky, as you immediately see imperfections). But as a fursuit is an unique handcrafted item I consider such things as part of the crafting process and it was no problem to close “the gap” with a drop of glue.

For the used fur – NFT fur is a customizable type of fur (in fiber length, color) used also for realistic special effects, so you can get unique shades of color (the chamois has a very dark brown with gray and black fibers in it) and the material is very resistant to pull and movements. It´s durability comes however with a cost – the fur is a bit rough to touch, scratchy on naked skin* and also a bit difficult to care for (very hard to brush).

The expression is due the nature of a realistic animal neutral, the taxidermy eyes have no follow-me-effect but goat-like realistic. It´s just what I wanted.

*All the used fur in the head and gloves is underlined therefore with a soft fabric

Special Attachments and Features

The long ears appear naturally, with dark outer fur, white fur as border and inner skin-colored fleece, limited poseable due an inbuilt metallic wire

The horns are very well executed (light-weighted resin casts of real horns I suppose), can be removed and attacked with a screw, a very stable solution. It´s a bit tricky to screw the horns on, as the holes for the screws inside the mask are partially covered by padding. The screws that came with the head did work, but I replaced them by slightly longer ones as this makes it easier to reach the screws with a screwdriver inside the head.

Hands and Feet

Wear Satisfaction

The hoof-gloves fit very well, reach almost to the elbow, so no wrist visible. NFT fur is stretchable enough to move around and wear comfortable and yet tight enough to give a natural looking shape.

The gloves are well executed, never had any problems with seams or the attached resin hooves.

The interior of the grooves is lined until the resin-hooves, as already said NFT fur is pretty rough to touch and possibly uncomfortable to wear on naked skin.

Dexterity is good considering that you have just two hooves and a “thumb-dewclaw”. You have still enough dexterity to put and remove on both gloves by yourself, open doors and push (larger) buttons. Only when you become sweaty the lining textile inside becomes a bit sticky, making it harder to pot on or off the gloves.

Visual Satisfaction

Very well executed and fur coloration and hoof-colors resemble indeed the legs of a real chamois (see pictures here: tinyurl.com/nkr25lk ), symmetrical and clean airbrushing around the claw-bases.

There is no shaving done on the gloves.

For the fur see already done discussion.

Resistant, light-weighted resin cusps for hooves, they can handle outdoor-use very well (without abuse). Due the construction-type you fingers are actually inside the plastic forms, you have to get used to it, but – as mentioned – you have still enough dexterity to put on both gloves by yourself, open doors and push (larger) buttons.

Final Comments

A good, unproblematic experience and Clockwork Creature Studios seemed interested in the project (giving to the customer this feeling can be also important during a commission/work spanning so much time). If you want a well executed, realistic looking suit or mask of a maybe not so common species Clockwork Creature sure is among the first to contact.

Only negative aspect, known to the maker (who is working to solve the problem) is the long response time outside a commission. During a commission it´s surely better even if – depending from workflow – you will not necessarily be contacted for every step they take on your project (however it´s also important to note that I didn´t specifically request to be informed as such). Best is to follow the makers on the various social media channels they use to stay informed.

In case the button above doesn't work, you can click here to launch the maker response form.
