[YES] Dizzy the Bat-Dragon Head by Gray REALM Studio
Wear Satisfaction
The head isn’t uncomfortable at all; everything fits snugly without it being too tight. If I need extra air, I can part the jaws a little to let more in. The nose is also ventilated with “pickable nose” nostrils, which adds more airflow. The inside is comfortably lined with balaclava or some other stretchy material, which wicks off sweat and keeps things cool.
The eyes are well placed and my vision is pretty good. There are no blind spots aside from the obvious peripheral vision. I do have to turn my head sometimes to see what’s in front of me, but the jaw being open helps out with that as well.
Visual Satisfaction
I was absolutely shocked when I received the head; not only did she get every detail correct, she even went for extra steps, like making the “w” shape of Dizzy’s mouth show on the suit head. The follow-me eyes are striking and vibrant without losing the ability to see through them. Each line that divides different sewn parts of the suit are evenly shaved and fit together like a puzzle — she was even able to successfully create the intricate swirls on Dizzy’s ears without any errors. The symmetry is also perfect!
Gray used a high quality fur for the head that doesn’t feel rough or stiff. It’s very soft, and she kept it long in the back to add variation, The details, like the inner ears, horns, and nose, are all made of minky.
Gray does not currently provide airbrushing, so the only thing truly “missing” on Dizzy’s head are the two bits of gray that fade into brown at the tips of her ears. Since she made it clear at the beginning of our contact that she didn’t use airbrushing, this was a complete non-issue. Gray did an amazing job with every detail.
Special Attachments and Features
Gray provided two tongues of small and long lengths. They attach in the mouth with magnets and stay in place very well. I tested it multiple times by rapidly shaking my head, and they haven’t once fallen out yet.
She also included a separate piece for the neck fluff — it’s stuffed very well and feels like an airport pillow. The fur is just as soft as it is on the back of the head, and of excellent quality.
Product Satisfaction
As I said before, Gray replicated my character in her style absolutely perfectly. Nothing was left out (aside from the ear tip being simplified) and Dizzy looks just like I’d imagined she’d look in reality. She used my own drawn reference sheet and had no problems with using it — we talked about simplifying the ear markings, which was fine with me. She looks absolutely fantastic, and my favorite part is how well Gray painted her eyes.
There are no gaps; everything fits together perfectly like a puzzle. No piece weighs any other pieces down, the seams are strong, and it looks like it will hold for a very long time. This head looks and feels exactly like how I’d imagined Gray would make it when I first found her work. It fits in consistently with her other pieces and feels sturdy and high quality.
I am absolutely more than satisfied with this head.
Purchase Process
Gray was super easy to contact! I sent her an email through her website, and she responded within two days. She broke down what the cost of the head would be with each detail I was looking for, and we continued on from there. Quick and simple!
The longest I’ve ever had to wait for Gray to respond to a question I sent through was about two days. She consistently would contact me with updates throughout the process.
Gray is one of the most professional people I’ve ever come into contact with. She’s easy to get a hold of, responds quickly, and answers questions honestly. She sends pictures of her work step by step so that you won’t have to worry about the progress of your suit or parts, and she makes sure to check with you during the process for any changes. She also kept me updated when she was sick for a month or so, so the ETA not being met didn’t feel like a bother in the least.
I’m very satisfied! While she didn’t meet her ETA of September, it was understandable due to a few illnesses coming at her back to back. She made sure to continue to communicate consistently even throughout her illness.
