Photos of Completed Product Head Wear Satisfaction The head is very comfortable and appears very durable too. The visibility is absolutely fine and it doesn’t feel too claustrophobic or tight which is all I could ask of wearing a suit head! The ventilation is good and I don’t find myself overheating anymore than I would do in another suit head. The one or two scuff marks picked up so far have been very simple to clean. One or two loose threads in the neck lining of the head which I tended to, other than that no issues with maintenance. Visual Satisfaction Absolutely wonderful. The maker has made the head look as close as possible to the initial references which made me very happy. Despite my OC having what can be described as a very ‘busy’ head (horns, dangling whiskers) everything came together beautifully and it’s the part of the suit I’m most satisfied with. I particularly love the snout bump on top, a detail I feel would have been easy to overlook, and the fact that the whiskers are incredibly adjustable. The hard teeth are also excellent and appear very durable too. It’s so fluffy and I feel it perfectly represents the character! Body Wear Satisfaction The body is extremely comfortable to wear and allows for full freedom of movement. The padding in the legs is removable via pouches so I can change the level of stuffing I have in either leg should there be too little/ too much. There were a few seams on the interior which required repair after wearing it to its first convention which is understandable as it gets movement in it for the first time. Fortunately I am a competent sewer so this was not a great inconvenience to me. The suit ran comfortably through a machine wash cycle, the one issue I knew I would have with a white suit is cleaning any scuff or dirt marks wholly. However, thus far I’ve not ran in to any issues with cleaning the body of any marks as the maker recommended cleaning solutions which have rectified any such problems. The suit ventilated as well as can be expected, there were no unexpected issues with regards to heat retention. Visual Satisfaction Again, very satisfied with the appearance. I was a little wary at first of getting a digitigrade suit as many of my character references in the past have been plantigrade, however the maker fully realized the concept sketches again in this regard. I love the legs and tail (which there is more information on below) and the individual tufts of red hair on the chest, groin and elbows was something I was really excited to see and was not let down by their appearance. The shaving across the body is even and I like the symmetrical transitions between the difference furs and lengths. The fur itself is incredibly soft so it’s a joy to feel. The curves and shapes are very appealing and the color swatches are ideal for my OC. Hands and Feet Wear Satisfaction The hands and feet are both very comfortable, and I especially appreciate the feet being attached to the body thus negating having to put them on separately and the legs of the suit riding up and exposing the feet cuffs. The feet and hands had some loose areas in the stitching, again I presume from con wear/ tear which I’ve already sewn up and reinforced to prevent it from happening again in future. The only downside of the hands is the length of the wrists, meaning when my arms are stretched my arm/ wrist area is exposed. I have already contacted the maker regarding this issue and they will be sending me out additional material so that I can add to the length of the wrists. The suit feet are appropriately padded on the interior and are not only comfortable but offer a suitable buffer between my feet and the ground. Visual Satisfaction Again, like the rest of the suit they are aesthetically very pleasing, the paw pads on the hands and feet being particular highlights. The fur shaving is even and very soft, easy to brush and match the concept art appropriately. The claws are neatly arranged and both the hands and feet have a nice, full look to them! Again they match the concept art fully so I’m very satisfied with their appearance. Tails Wear Satisfaction Despite the size and weight of the tail, it does not feel uncomfortable or cumbersome. It has been easy to clean thus far too. The only drawback is, due to the length, I have to ensure I carry it over any areas which may be particularly dirty, such as stairs, near any building entrances, and damp surfaces. However, this is neither an unanticipated problem nor is it one that affects my enjoyment of the suit. The maker made the tail to the size relative to the size in the references and thus made the tail to my specifications.I have already brainstormed ideas as to how to potentially circumvent having to carry it and I’m confident I can find a workable and enjoyable solution! Visual Satisfaction Very pleasing, fulsome and pleasantly shaped. The shaving is even, as are the transitions, with the fur being very soft. The colors match the rest of the suit and I love the weight and length of the tail. It matches the concept art entirely as expected! Overall Product Satisfaction How well does everything fit together and match up? The individual components of the suit fit together beautifully, I’m extremely pleased with the shape and form of the piece as a whole. The maker has a particularly sharp eye for how shapes compliment one another and the aesthetics of the suit are extremely good on the eye. The markings and shapes are all consistent to the reference sheet. As mentioned previously, the only note against how the suit fits together is the wrists being a little short, which will be remedied by myself. The padding also compliments the suit too, I also have the option of increasing/ decreasing the amount of padding in the chest and tail, meaning I can customize the appearance. There’s comfortable enough give in the individual appendages (arms, legs, tail) that there isn’t any noticeable tugging or the feel of something tearing. I have taken the time to reinforce potential areas of stress for reassurance, something I was happy to do and not obliged to do by the condition of the suit. Overall Project Quality I cannot fully express how happy I am with this suit. The aesthetics of the suit are wonderful, it’s comfortable, and has been put together well too. I believe what I received was fairly priced and the project itself exceeded my expectations. The suit appears durable and thus I expect it to last for a significant length of time. Mars was a pleasure to work with, and even streamed the making of the final pieces of the suit which really helped both reassure me and further ramp up my excitement seeing it come together! The suit is beautiful and I’m extremely happy to possess a suit of this quality. Purchase Process Initial Contact I contacted Mars via Twitter out of curiosity to see if they had any interest in making a new head for my old suit. Due to their initial enthusiasm for the character, I was persuaded to go with a full suit from them. They were very responsive to emails from the beginning to the end of the process, contact was detailed and reassuring and both parties could communicate their needs clearly to one another. Maker Response Time As detailed above, the maker was quick to respond, which was very reassuring as I’d previously endured stressful experiences getting updates in a timely manner from other vendors in the past. Maker Professionalism I feel the maker treated me very respectfully, and were as responsible as they could be during the process. They were very pleasant to work with and were casual yet reassuring and professional in their communication with me. I understood that they had significant changes in their personal life whilst building the suit, including moving abodes and starting school, which makes their successful and satisfying end result all the more commendable. Despite enduring potentially very disruptive life events, there was never a feeling they were going to use that as a reason for either any delays or any problems experienced in the making of the suit. Project Completion Time A six month turnaround was put down for the suit (in time for pickup at Midwest FurFest). I received constant reassurances that the suit would be completed during that time and to a satisfactory degree. The suit was picked up at the convention, mainly to avoid the stress of having it shipped during the Christmas period. They were very pleasant and professional and I was delighted with how happy they were with the finished product and how excited they’d been in the first place to work on the suit. On a personal note, I have wanted a suit of this quality for some time so suffice to say I’m extremely happy to have worked with this maker and hope the experience was a positive one for them too.
