It was super easy! I saw this maker's work on twitter, and they posted updates on their twitter when their commissions were opening. This contained a lot of the information I needed and a link to their website, where I was able to fill out a google form to get a quote and apply for the commission.
The maker emailed me letting me know my commission was accepted just a couple of days after their commissions closed, it was very prompt! We exchanged telegrams for easier communication, and communicated mostly on telegram throughout the process. The maker is friendly and professional, she communicated very clearly and always got back to me quickly.
The commission took less than a year from the time I got the quote to the suit being in my hands, I'm extremely happy with the time taken. The maker had a queue on trello so I was able to keep track of my place in it. I knew that once the project started it would take around 6 weeks to be completed, though the maker completed the suit in only 4 weeks after starting it. She worked very quickly, and the shipping had no issues and was very fast.
Overall, I'm extremely happy with this suit! It looks wonderful, just how I had hoped, the makers style suits my character perfectly and the attention to detail really shows. There are many markings with small details on this character, and the maker did a great job handling all of those. They chose the perfect colors for the suit, matching the minky and fur really well! The markings are all really clean, symmetrical, and perfectly placed. I love the shape of the suit, the digitigrade padding looks amazing, and the suit fits me really well. The suit is consistent with the quality of the maker's other work.
The suit feels extremely easy to wear – it's comfortable, and I'm able to move around really well in it. All parts allow me flexibility and fit really comfortably, so I can just have fun suiting without having to worry about any part of the suit. All the parts that are detachable attach really securely, and the transition between different parts of the suit look totally seamless. Wearing and removing the suit is easy, too. There are lots of little finishing details, such as zippers in the tails for removing stuffing, and the zip-on feet and tails, that make storing, moving and washing the suit a breeze. I really appreciate this when I'm travelling to a convention. All of the materials used are super high quality – the suit is very soft, comfortable and durable because of it.
The maker was really easy to work with, she's very friendly and communicative. She would get back to me quickly, ask for my input on parts of the creation process, and send me progress photos once she started on the project. She answered any questions I had during the process, and has been helpful with questions I had after I received the suit. There's lots of information on what to expect during the commission process on her website, and I always felt like I knew what was going on during the commission process. The suit was definitely worth the money I paid for it, and exceeded my expectations – there were so many nice details I didn't expect that make it so easy and comfortable to wear.
The head fits very well – it has an adjustable velcro strap inside, which means I can get a perfect fit while wearing my glasses, or without them. It's very nicely lined with I think neoprene and easy to wipe down with fursuit spray.
The ventilation is good, plenty of air gets in through the eyes and some through the mouth. If it gets stuffy opening the mouth gives me fresh air, but as long as it's not a particularly hot day I don't need to.
The vision is great, I don't have any issues with it. There's a blind spot in the middle because of the protruding angel dragon snout, but I hardly notice it when suiting.
I have to be mindful of hitting people with the big floppy ears, but I love the fact that they flop around when I'm moving/dancing in suit and specifically requested this! Overall the head is very comfortable, I can wear it for hours without issue.
The tongue is removable, attached with velcro, and can be positioned completely inside the mouth or further down the mouth so it's sticking out.
The head has a small pocket at the back of the head in the lining, which is super useful for putting the eyelids and my phone in. It's out of the way, so I never notice the zip or contents of the pocket while I'm wearing the suit.
The head looks amazing! The markings are pretty much all symmetrical, with only one slightly asymmetrical marking on the nose bridge which I don't mind at all. Pronto has a lot of small details in their head markings (such as the striped cheek fluff), and the head matches the reference sheet perfectly. The head feels very nicely finished, the shaving is incredibly smooth and the different fur lengths on the ears looks great. None of the backing is showing. The nub horns are made out of minky – I appreciate that this keeps the head soft so I don't have to worry about knocking into someone with hard horns, and I like how they look.
The head is easy to clean, I've cleaned it with a portable carpet cleaner (little green machine) with no heat, and the fur is high quality and brushes out easily. The lining material is easy to spray with disinfectant and wipe down when I need to give the head a less thorough clean at cons.
The head has magnetic eyelids let me change the expression, and the eyelids stay on very well even when I'm moving around a lot. I'm very satisfied with the overall look of the head, it feels very high quality with no noticeable imperfections and looks amazing. The only thing I wish were different are the eyes, which look great but aren't very vibrant – but the maker has a new method of making the eyes now which is much more vibrant.
The bodysuit fits me really well and is quite comfortable to wear! There's enough space that I can move around without my movement feeling restricted, but the suit still fits my body well. There's quite a bit of padding which extends around the hips, butt and thighs – this creates an awesome digi shape, but does make the suit quite warm. I've worn the suit during some pretty warm days (around 30C) and been fine outside as long as there was a breeze. Air flows through the unpadded portions of the suit quite well since there's no lining.
The padding is polyfill inside a mesh lining – there are zippers which allow you to remove the stuffing to easily wash the suit. The stuffing stays in place very well while suiting, and because it's so soft the padding doesn't stop me from sitting comfortably. The maker provides an instruction sheet on washing the suit, and the bodysuit is easily able to be washed in the washing machine. The suit has held up really well to this and my wearing it so far – I haven't had any issues with the seams at all.
The zipper in the middle of the belly makes the suit super easy to put on. The legs and tail have zippers for detaching/reattaching the tails and feet, which is super convenient! They stay on really well and aren't too fiddly to put on, this is really helpful when travelling. I'm able to change between the floor-dragger tail and shorter nub tail depending on which is easier for me at the time. The wings are also detachable – they slot through two small holes at the back of the bodysuit which are reinforced with extra fabric around the edges. The wings can be pulled through these holes. This also means they can be worn for partialling if I want!
The suit looks perfect, it turned out just how I hoped. The digi padding looks amazing, and all of the rosette/spot markings are sewed perfectly! These are quite small and detailed, I'm very impressed and happy with how they turned out. The maker suggested shaving the fur on/around these markings slightly so they would show up better, and this was really effective. The entire suit has a lot of attention to detail which I really appreciate. All of the markings match the reference sheet perfectly. The zippers where the feet and tail connect are completely hidden and the connection looks seamless, you can't tell they detach at all when I'm wearing it. The same goes for the detachable wings – the connection isn't visible at all.
The shaving over the markings is really smooth, and the long fluffy fur with shorter belly fur is just what I was looking for. The only place seams are visible is on the stomach, but that's to be expected since the fur is quite short there. The fur is all very high quality, the suit is super soft and fluffy, and brushes down really well. This suit had a lot of different colors which the maker had to match (in the fur and in minky), she did a really good job of that! The colors all match the reference sheet and each other really well.
I'm incredibly happy with how the suit looks overall! There's so much attention to details with the markings, comfort, finishing details, and which furs were picked, and it really shows.
The hands are really comfortable to wear! They're lined, and fit me perfectly. The padding/lining keeps them secure on my hands even when I'm moving around a lot. The lining material doesn't cling to my skin at all, so they're easy to remove/put back on even if my hands are sweaty. They have four fingers, and tags on the paws show which is left and which is right. With the help of a fan they dry easily after being washed. My dexterity when grabbing things is limited with the paws, but I'm able to point/put two fingers up, they're dexterous enough to gesture in.
The pawpads are super plush and neatly made, the shape is perfect. The markings on them are pretty simple, they match the reference sheet perfectly. All of the claws are neatly placed and face the right direction/are a uniform length and shape. The different fur lengths are very nice, I like the look of the shorter fur on the fingers. Like the body, the fur is very high quality and soft, especially the fur on the fingers. The pawpads and claws are made of a nice soft minky.
The tails are really comfortable to wear attached or detached from the suit. They have belt loops attached to a very soft material on the back of them, and sit very nicely when worn with a belt. They both attach to the body by zipper – I never notice the zipper when I'm wearing them separately, though, it's very out of the way. Attached to the bodysuit, the tails sit perfectly and are both very comfortable! The floor dragger I have to be mindful of and often hold onto, so being able to switch it out with the nub tail in crowded or outdoor areas it really helpful. There's a zipper on the bottom of floor dragger for removing the stuffing. It's very well hidden, and makes cleaning the tail significantly easier.
The tails are both really durable! The floor dragger has minky feathers at the end which have held up really well, I've had no issues with them. The nub tail has a few minky spikes which I've had no issues with. The belt loops and zippers are all very secure and attach well. This tail has a zipper at the back, between the belt loops, through which the stuffing can be removed for cleaning.
I really love how both tails look! The floor dragger has seven feathers of different colors, made out of minky. The maker did an awesome job choosing the colors for these and creating the shape of them! I love the detail of the middle seams to make them look more feathery. They're all very symmetrical, and the individual feathers are attached together which keeps the tail looking nice and stops the feathers from moving to odd angles. The feathers are built on what I think is foam, and are very squishy and soft. The stripes on this tail are super consistent and clean, and the overall shape and size of the tail are perfect.
The nub tail has very clean, consistent stripes as well, and I love the shape of it. The spikes on it are make of minky and very soft. On both tails, the fur is very soft and high quality. I'm super happy with how both of them turned out, and really happy I opted to get both! Being able to change them out is very helpful.
The feet are very comfortable to wear. They're made of foam and based around crocs on the inside – I wasn't sure how this would feel after suiting for a longer period of time, but my feet still feel very comfortable and don't get sore even when I suit for hours and walk around. The strap on the back of the crocs can be fiddly to get on sometimes, but you can move the strap aside if you don't want to use it. I like how secure they make my feet, so I use the straps. Once they're on, I have no issues at all – I'm able to move around well and because the feet are attached to the body with a zipper, there's no gap where my ankles might show. I've mostly worn the feet attached to the bodysuit, but they're quite secure even worn without it. I haven't had any issues with the durability – the pawpads, claws, and all seams are perfectly intact.
The feet are lined with what I think is black neoprene, same as the head, and the feet have tags to distinguish left and right. I do wish I'd gotten outdoor foot soles instead of indoor, as the sandals can be a bit fiddly sometimes and slide off the feet. It's not a big issue though!
The markings perfectly match the reference sheet and are totally symmetrical and neat! The claws are all very consistently made, they face the same direction and are all the same shape and length. The pawpads on the soles of the feet are very cleanly sewed and are perfectly shaped, as well as being very soft. Like the rest of the suit, the fur is high quality and very soft. The pawpads and claws are made of minky, just like the handpaws. The feet look great! I have no complaints.
