The maker and I have been in contact for months before I had the chance to commission her, as we regularly meet in person.
Saika is a very available person, and provides all kind of information ad details when asked. And in return, she also asked me for info about what I wanted, and offered me the chance to choose between different options for every little detail of the suit, giving me her insights as a maker, and guiding me, also providing precious recommendations and creative ideas.
The suit was delivered a year after the first installation was paid, as my commission was the fourth in queue for the batch I was in. I personally retrieved the suit in person after the completion.
I am really satisfied with the outcome, both for the looks and the functionality. Although some minor fixes were needed after the delivery, the fursuit's quality is good and met my expectations.
This particular project is delicate and must be handled carefully, but this is something I took in consideration when the suit was commissioned. The full set looks pleasant and its single pieces are well coordinated with each other.
The head is mostly made of foam, and it's really light. It can be comfortably worn for many consecutive hours with ease.
Initially, it occasionally hanged forward, but after a little adjustment, the problem was solved.
The inner part is provided with a removable and washable layer, which protects the foam from any sweat. The air is able to flow through the head thanks to the holes in the ears and in the mouth.
The visibility is appropriate, although it is not possible to wear glasses underneath.
Aesthetically, the head is really well done, and it features some cool details (e.g. LED strips in the eye cavities, additional eyelids for different facial expressions, magnetic eyebrows, interchangeable tongues). No visible flaws regarding symmetry and shaving are present. The fur is soft and fluffy, and can be brushed easily. The fursuit really matches the character's original concept, especially while wearing the "angry" eyelids, which are my personal favourites.
The hands fit on perfectly, and the pads are really soft on the touch. They're 4-fingered, can be washed in the washing machine, and comfortable to wear. Until now, the seams have been reliable and didn't present any problem.
These handpaws are really cute. The fingers and palms are shaved, while the fur is longer on the wrists. The color choice, just like the head, faithfully represent the original concept of the character.
Being the same fur as the head, it's really soft to the touch. The pads are slightly puffy, squishing them feels like heaven.
The result exceeded my expectations. It has to be worn using a belt, which can be inserted in a pass-through slit. It is the heaviest part of the suit, and sometimes touches the ground, but that's because I'm definitely too short.
Some kind of support base is needed if you want to wear it, in order to avoid putting it on the ground. It doesn't impede my own movements, but in crowded areas, other people may hit it by accident.
Caution is needed for the maw, as it cannot be opened with force, or the inner "mechanism" could be damaged.
Just like the other parts, it's perfectly aligned with the concept art. This tail deserves a note of merit, as it tail was Saika's first attempt at making a tailmaw. Many people complimented me and the maker for the looks of it, and the used fur is the same as the head and hands, the quality is also consistent with the rest of the fursuit.
The maw contains springs, in order to keep it closed. The tongue's position can be adjusted at will, and an inner pouch has been inserted deep inside (I have to put my whole arm in the maw if I want to reach it, it's a nice addition)
The LED lighting looks really nice, and helps when the environment's light is not optimal. The wiring needs some maintenance, as improper handling could damage the circuit. Three "standard" configurations for the lighting have been offered, but they can be edited manually and customized through WiFi connection.
The tailmaw adds a lot of personality to the character, and was amazingly represented.
