I first met the maker, Cosmell/Lotus, and had a very positive interaction with them at Furnal Equinox 2024. I joined their Telegram announcement channel, which is where I was notified of opened slots. It was a very easy process to be notified and to fill out the form. I could directly communicate with them if I had any concerns or questions.
Cosmell/Lotus is among the most professional, courteous, and responsive artisans I have ever worked with. We communicated through Telegram throughout the entire process. Lotus initially treated me like a valued customer, which I greatly appreciated, and as the project progressed, the fursuit was delivered, and we met for a second time at Furnal Equinox 2025, Lotus began to treat me as a blend between a friend and a valued customer, which I also appreciated. My interaction with them represents what I consider the gold standard for customer-artisan relationships.
I found Lotus to be very cheerful, patient, and understanding. There were no hiccups before, during, or after the project.
Lotus is always reachable and maintains a private Telegram server for all fursuit commissioners. At the beginning of the project, Lotus and I had a video call where they showed me different fabric options and we exchanged design ideas. The communication was strong from the start, and they kept me updated at every major step of the process. They could answer all my questions, and I had some input in the final design (I chose to have a larger bat nose than what they originally suggested). I deliberately chose not to exert too much control over the process because I trusted their style and artistic judgment, which I believe was a good decision. I requested minimal revisions along the way and am very satisfied with the final product.
The project took around half a year to complete, which is in my opinion very reasonable. The original ETA was for early November, but it was requested to be pushed to early January due to an emergency commission/repair (IIRC). The ETA push request was made very clear, and well before the deadline. I gladly accepted, and this new ETA was met.
I am extremely satisfied with Laz in every aspect. The head and paws are both comfortable to wear and visually stunning. The build quality is exceptional, I cannot find any visible seams, even upon close inspection. The shaving is consistently even throughout, and the transitions between different fur types feel natural. The fur quality is excellent, with a pleasing balance between the flat minky fur and the shinier hair elements.
After several months of ownership, Laz has proven to be remarkably durable. I've worn the suit in public spaces without any concerns about breakage, and there has been no noticeable fur loss. The construction feels sturdy and well-made, giving me confidence that this fursuit will last for many years.
Laz exceeded my expectations in terms of functionality. The ventilation system with the magnetic fan is ingenious, allowing air to flow through the mouth and out the eyes for exceptional comfort. The vision is better than average for fursuit heads, with only the typical center blindspot that's common to most suits. I can comfortably wear Laz for 8+ hours without discomfort, in fact, I enjoy the soft pressure, dimness, and quieter environment it creates.
The 4-fingered paws offer good dexterity for a fursuit, staying securely in place even during extended wear. While grabbing objects is predictably challenging (as with most paws), the overall range of motion is excellent. The fabric claws are a nice design choice that I appreciate over plastic alternatives.
My project not only met but exceeded my expectations. Considering this was Cosmell's first bat character, the quality is remarkable. They successfully adapted their distinctive style to bat features, an impressive feat given the diversity and complexity of bat appearances. The complex markings with target-like layered circles are executed perfectly.
All components work together harmoniously to achieve a unified look. The head and paws match perfectly in terms of color, fur length, and overall style. The markings maintain their correct shapes across all pieces, and the colors are entirely consistent. Everything fits correctly without bagging or pulling, and there are no visible gaps between costume pieces.
The head feels fantastic to wear. Laz fits my head perfectly. It slides on really well, and the custom soft fabric that lines the interior is comfortable against the skin for extended periods. My skin is very sensitive, but it reacts well to wearing the head for a long time, and Laz is easy to clean (I like to use Cosmell's sprays). Although, Cosmell recommends to not let the spray touch the eyes, so I cover Laz's eyes (from inside and outside) when spraying.
The ventilation is great. The head came with a fan that attaches by magnet to the roof of the mouth, with the battery pack behind the chest fluff. Air flows through the mouth and out of the eyes, creating a comfortable environment. I can breathe very easily with and without the fan.
Friends who have worn Laz tell me his vision is better than average for fursuit heads. There is a blindspot in the middle like most fursuits, but it's not problematic. Vision is good enough that I can watch my favorite movies while wearing Laz and still follow what's happening. While I can be aware of my surroundings in Laz, having a handler is always appreciated.
I can hear surprisingly well, though it's more difficult than without the head. People can hear me speak clearly too, but I cannot talk on the phone with Laz on. I am able to wear Laz comfortably for 8+ hours continuously without discomfort, and I actually enjoy the soft pressure, dimmed lighting, and quieter soundscape it creates.
I am very satisfied with how Laz turned out. I did not have much art of him, and what I had was very stylized, which gave Cosmell considerable freedom to express their style. I love Cosmell's artistic vision, and I am surprised by Laz's quality considering it was their first bat. Cosmell managed to adapt their style, which I love, to bat features exceptionally well, which is a difficult feat considering that bats' appearances are extremely diverse and varied. Laz is overall very symmetrical, except for the big leaf bat nose leaning a bit to the right when looking at Laz up front (not a common angle to look at fursuits from). But that's not visible under most angles, and it took me a few weeks to notice, so it's not a big problem.
I have only received fantastic feedback and compliments from both friends and strangers alike, and I have made new friends while wearing Laz. The shaving is very even and consistent. I cannot see any seams at all; the final result is seamless. The transition between the fur types feels very natural. Laz feels very soft, and there is an interesting balance between the flat minky fur and the almost shiny hair.
Laz has complex markings with target-like layered circles, and Cosmell executed them very well. Laz doesn't have much long fur, but what he does have (on the cheeks, hair, and chest fluff) is very easily brushable. I have not had any issues with Laz losing fur (although I should note that I have only had him for a few months).
The head feels sturdy, and I am very confident wearing it outside and in public without worrying about it breaking. Laz is surprisingly expressive while remaining casual. He can display a wide array of different moods depending on the angle, and his reactions fit most situations. The head comes with eyelids which help make him even more expressive.
I am very satisfied with Laz's 4-fingered paws. They are very comfortable to wear and allow for a wide variety of movement, although grabbing things can be complicated (as with most paws). Laz is not padded, though the artist offers that design option. Laz's claws are made out of fabric instead of plastic, which is a design decision I appreciate.
The paws fit well in many hands, including mine. My wrists do not show easily while wearing them, even when I stretch. The paws stay on marvelously; I have never had any issues with them sliding off. Sometimes I need to push my fingers all the way to the ends of the digits, but that's mostly just for comfort, not for any aesthetic or practical reason.
The paws are easy to put on, I'm able to put a paw on one hand while wearing the other. They seem very durable, and I cannot detect any seams. The insides are lined with Cosmell's brand and the same soft fabric that's found in the head, which is a detail I really appreciate.
I generally have very dry hands, but I found myself sweating from my palms while wearing the paws for 8+ hours. This never became a problem. If I recall correctly, I believe the paws are safe to put through the washing machine, but please check Cosmell's publicly available fursuit care card for more detailed instructions.
The paws look great. I am very satisfied with them. They are designed to be subtle rather than attention-grabbing, and they complement my silhouette very well. They are perfectly symmetrical with no discernible issues. They match the character design, although I had given Cosmell freedom to modify the design from the reference sheet. They chose to stay faithful to the original design.
The shaving is very even, and I cannot detect any seams, even when examining them very closely. The paws are very sturdy, and I haven't noticed a single hair falling out. They are easy to brush, though they don't actually require brushing. The color selection is excellent. The paws do not include pads, but Cosmell does offer them as an option when commissioning a fursuit. The claws are made of fabric and are very soft.
Laz includes a fan in the roof of its mouth. The fan is detachable with magnets, and the battery pack is hidden in the neck pouch. I find this design very clever and appreciate it greatly. However, I don't recall seeing instructions about the fan, and I discovered the magnets by accident. I might have missed this information in the instructions, although I did read through them carefully. The fan stays securely in place and is positioned slightly to the side, allowing items like straws for drinking or fingers for scratching to pass through the mouth unobstructed.
Laz also included a pair of 3D printed glasses. They were the first one from the artist, and it's the only part of the process where there has been some issues. The glasses made it during shipping, but the branches broke after a few minutes of normal usage. The glasses also had no system to stay in place, the fell from the head easily. I let the artist know about these issues, and a new pair was made and handed free of charge at a convention. This new pair uses alligator clips to attach to the fur, which I am not a huge fan of because they can be a bit aggressive and rip a few hair out. Instead, I bought yarn the same color as Laz and concealed pins around his head to secure the glasses via a hidden string. The alligator clips help at keeping them on. This new pair also broke in the same way after a few minutes of usage, but Cosmell managed to repair them at the convention. Cosmell has shown to be very understanding of those issues and they have proven to be very cooperative as to fixing them. They play on making a third pair to address all those problems once and for all.
Would you recommend this maker?
This means the reviewer would recommend Cosmell Cosplay.
From the first sight of her stand at Furnal Equinox, I knew it had to be them to make my fursuit, and after striking up a conversation with her, I was convinced. For my first fursuit, I was in very good hands, and I could not have hoped for a better process and outcome. I love Laz dearly and made new friends along the way, Lotus and her lovely fursuit family. I am always proud to wear such a fantastic fursuit, and strangers and friends alike are sure to let me know how much they love Cosmell's work. If you love her style, Cosmell is pretty much as good as it gets. Thank you so much for an out-of-this-world experience.
